Galapagos

Greg and I are planning a trip to Ecuador to see some friends and are going to do 3 or 4 days in the Galapagos Islands too. We have a lot to figure out, but we are excited to take this trip and see some amazing things that you can only see there!

A couple of mission pictures!

Double dipping

Will Newbold is one of our seminary students and he has a summer birthday. I let each student choose breakfast on their birthday, and for the summer kids we either do a half birthday, or quarter birthday and celebrate then. Will wanted cinnnamon rolls, which I happily made. He sent me this picture this week on his actual birthday...his mom got my cinnamon roll recipe and made them on his actual birthdayfor him. A yummy way to double dip on birthday breakfast!

Family time

It is the first time it has happened since Zach has been on his mission, but last Monday, the 5 of us were all on a call together! So fun to have a little virtual family time!

Cute Hannah

Greg and I thought it was so cute that Hannah Newbold wanted to invite us to her play. Of course we were happy to attend! In a fun moment, we saw that Rebecca, one of Zach and Ava's friends, was the choreographer. It was wonderful to go and support her and even more wonderful to be asked by her. Too sweet!

Jesus Take the Wheel

Youth Conference took a huge detour this past week when the heat index in Oklahoma was going to be 115 degrees. The Stake President had to make a last minute decision to cancel trek and try to pull off a completely different youth conference. I can't imagine the craziness in that planning, but they pulled it off! They took the kids to Kirtland, Ohio and then camping at a church campground in Indiana. They were still able to do a 2 mile handcart pull and to do most of the extra activies that they had orignally planned. They just added in Kirtland and some other fun things along the way.

Ava was in a "family" with Will and Henry and they were supposed to make a family flag. She sent this picture and I thought it was so funny. It was a bus pulling the hand cart with the lyric of the song 'Jesus take the wheel'...funny, clever kids.

Ava had a great time, but we haven't seen any pictures yet. Hopefully we will get to see some this week and hear a few more stories!

Jane and John Evington Bitton

Ava was asked to bring a name of a pioneer with her to Youth Conference this week. She brought the brother and sister duo of Jane Evington Bitton and John Evington Bitton. She has so many pioneer ancestors to choose from, but these two are pretty amazing. We are greatful for our pioneer heritage and these two are wonderful examples of faith and perserverance.

Rustling in the bushes

Greg and I were headed out on a walk and I heard a rustling in the bushes and saw something dart arcross the landscaping. I am not of fan of most things that dart, but was so relieved to see it was a cute baby bunny the next day!

I don't mind a baby bunny at all...I actually really enjoy seeing it every day, and don't mind it rustling in the bushes at all!

The return of Elder Hall

Elder Hall served in our ward for 6 months, but has been gone for over 6 months. He is now the Zone Leader and came for splits last weekend. He wanted to get together with some of the families he was close to, so we had some friends over for rootbeer floats. It was great to catch up and see him again, and to spend the evening in such good company.

There were a lot of little kids for our little Duke, so by the end of the night, he wanted to be in Greg's arms. It was a great night (especially for everyone besides Duke)!

The Strawberry Moon

It's so hard to capture good moon pictures, but this beauty looked so low and bright!

I was a little too late in the night to capture the color, but it was a great moon!

Inspiring the upcoming students

Ava went into the school to sing for the group of kids who had been at choir camp all week. They were the "this is what you can become if you keep singing" group. It's a pretty fun group to be in!

Visiting with the Sahrs

Andrew and Kayleigh met her parents in Arizona and got to have some good family time. I got a few pictures from Carla and it sounds like they had a wonderful time!

I do believe this is true for us!

Mission pictures!!

Amazing clouds!

I don't typically take night time cloud pictures, but these were amazing and the almost full moon made it beautiful and somewhat fake looking. So awesome!

Knee high by the 4th of July

I guess that's the old saying, but the farmers around here would be really sad to only have their corn be knee high by the 4th. I think they are hoping for chest high! Either way, it sure is coming in now and you can literally tell the difference in height every day! Here comes the corn!

Indy visit

I flew to Atlanta from Indy so I could stay there for my event on Thursday. I had Wednesday off, so I got to spend it doing fun things with friends. I spent Tuesday night with the Sanchezes, then went to the Olympic Swim Trials with Sarah and the kids on Wednesday morning.

It was super fun to be there and be a part of the excitement! After the trials, I met up with Lindsay and spent the afternoon with her. First, we walked around some of the displays and then I went with her to run some work errands.

Couldn't resist taking a picture of this athlete's banner!

That evening, I checked into Bottleworks Hotel and was so impressed with the room...it was SO nice, I was wishing I booked it for 2 nights.

Off to dinner with Susie next!

A delicious blackberry, basil lemonade!

With one of my besties! It was such a wonderful treat to get the spend the day with 3 of my closest friends!

The next morning, I got up early and headed to High Alpha Innovation where I had the first event I helped plan and execute. I am super happy with how it turned out, and feel excited to plan the next one.

It was a really busy week, with 2 business trips, but I am happy with both of them and I had a lot of fun along the way. Work hard, play hard!
