Fun with friends

It's so nice when your friends are at youth group with you!  We played ultimate Frisbee this night and made smores.

Here are my boys hanging out with some of their friends.  It's a great group of kids - we are very lucky!

A fall equinox urban legend

Or is it??  Ava's science teacher sent home some info about the belief that you can balance an egg on it's end easier on the fall equinox.  She gave extra credit if the kids were willing to try and send a picture.  Ava and the forces of nature balanced eggs!

I got a few balanced too.  Maybe it's an urban legend, but it sure was fun!

Love my Laurels

I had a Laurel activity at the house today.  We had macaroni and cheese and a salad bar for lunch (it's all about balance).  The Sister Missionaries came and talked with the girls and answered questions.  It was a great activity and so fun to have the girls here.

Another amazing win

Ava's team played a team that was so good today!  They had some mean serves and a couple of fantastic players.  They killed us the first match and you could tell that was normal for them.

In the second match, the girls rallied back and WON!!!  It was crazy, and the other team was at least as shocked as the spectators!

It went to a tie breaker match and got to 14/14.  We were down to the final serve and we took it!  It was awesome.  The girls were amazed and thrilled!

What an awesome group of girls!

Hakuna Matata

Ava and I went to see The Lion King this week!

Even better, we met the Williams there and had a girl's night out!

Kathleen, Camille and Ava!

I took a couple of pictures before the usher told me to stop!  The show was great and it was really awesome to be there and see it through Ava's eyes.  I had seen it before, but enjoyed it quite a bit better this time.

It was a fun mother/daughter/friends date!

A little more dog sitting

Ava and her happy dogs!

An Alison Krause anniversary

Greg and I got ourselves Alison Krause tickets for our anniversary.  She puts on an amazing concert and is always so fun (it's at least our 3rd time seeing her).

It was a fun night and a good way to celebrate 19 years!

Friends like family

Brandon was over and these boys were looking at videos and laughing and looked just like brothers to me.  I love when friends become family.

House fun run

Zach is in House at school - it is a club that does fundraising for Riley Children's Hospital and other organizations.  He went to his first activity and definitely had fun.

They sponsored a color run and he definitely came home colorful too!

It even bled right through his shirt.  Good times and a good shower is what he got this day!

A volleyball milestone

Ava had another volleyball game today and they did a great job.

They had a nice win.

But the real news was that Ava served overhand for the whole game!  She ended up scoring 5 points and it was so exciting!  When I realized she was going to serve overhand, I called out to her and reminded her that she only got 1 serve during this match (in the first rotation of the first match, you can try an overhand serve and if you don't make it, you can follow it up with an underhand serve).  She gave me the "I know" look and then smacked that ball right over the net!  It was awesome.  I sure do love this girl.

More YW events

The girls in YW have so many activities and I try to get to them once in a while.  It's fun to support them and to see them in their element!  Here are Susie and me with Sydney at a cross country meet.

We got to watch Lindsey run too...and we found the Bishop there watching the youth - just like us!  It was a great meet and Carmel ended up winning both the girl's and boy's divisions.  I had 4 YW there in total...it was a great event.

The right place at the right time

I was in the living room when this butterfly decided to land on my window.  I got a quick picture and then thought I would try to get closer.

It let me, so I thought I would get really close.

I don't know if butterflies aren't looking beneath them and that's why I could get so close, or if I just got lucky.  Either way, I was happy to have been there right at the moment it landed.

Pentatonix

We went to another outdoor concert last night.  We saw Pentatonix and they were fantastic.  We also got an amazing sunset in the process.

There were some girls in front of us that must have spent 30 minutes taking selfies.  We were having some fun watching them and then Greg decided to get in on the action.  I shot and it was perfect...I have no idea what took them so long!

It was a really pretty night and the weather was absolutely perfect.  The concert was postponed from Saturday because of terrible rain storms.  It was strange to be at a concert on a Wednesday night, but all of the fans were there.

We had great seats and were with great friends.  The Blakes, Burkes and Dodinis were with us and we ran into the Fishers too.  It was a really fun night.

They were AMAZING!  It's crazy what they can do with their voices.  You would swear there were instruments.

They did have some crazy outfits though...we had a good laugh.  A few of them are bringing a new funk to a capella!

So good!

Soccer fans

Bindi, Susie and I went to a soccer game of one of my YW the other night.  They have both had her in Primary, Activity Days or YW in the past.  Bindi brought this super electric paper to make posters...it was literally glowing...check out her face!

We made double sided posters (this is the tame side) and definitely made our presence known!  I asked Emily before if we could be loud or if it would embarrass her.  She gave us the green light and we didn't look back.  She actually ended up scoring and you would have thought we just won the World Cup!  It was a fun night with an excellent group of soccer fans.

Happy day

My wedding ring had some loose stones in the center channel and we took it to a couple of places to have estimates.  One was outrageously high and so I set it in my jewelry box and starting wearing my other ring (the one on my pinky in this picture).  I have been wearing it for at least 6 months - maybe 9.  We eventually got another estimate and found out we needed to replace the enter center piece of my wedding ring and have all of the diamonds reset.  We took it in about a month ago and now it is fixed!  Greg went and picked it up and I literally cried when I got it back.  I love the other ring, but this is my wedding ring.  I'm so happy to have it back.

A weekend visitor

We had Samantha for the weekend.  Her parents are taking their oldest out to college and we got to keep Sammy while they were there.  We picked her up from her volleyball game and then had a great time for the next few days.  We love Sammy.
