A sigh of relief...

They finally opened up the H1N1 shots to kids under the age of 9 here in Duluth. I took the boys in today after school and had them get the mist. I know they will still need to get a booster (if they ever become available here), but at least this should give them enough immunity to keep them from a really serious case of the swine flu. Now we just have to hold out for Greg and me!

Another "Better with Bacon" product!

My dad sent this to me...bacon flavored envelopes! It could make the Christmas card stuffing a whole new experience! Mmmm bacon! http://mmmvelopes.com/

A real life Cinderella

Believe it or not, this is the AFTER picture from our project on Saturday!! Greg and I cleaned out the fireplaces and got them ready to be inspected. There is a some joint work that will definitely need to be done, but the box is solid and amazingly, the inside floor of the fireplace is the same tile work that is in the great room. We know there is a lot more project to be done on the fireplace, but this is a major improvement!!

Have we been bitten by a tsetse fly?

Wait...this one's a fake...

Uh, yeah...this one too!

A special day

Andrew got baptized on November 7th. It was a wonderful day with lots of family. Both my and Greg's parents came into town. Bruce and Lindsey, Justin and Amy & kids, and Marisa and Brian & kids were all at the baptism and/or celebration as well. It was great to have so many people who love Andrew all gathered together at the same time for his big day.

Andrew asked his school teacher, Mrs. Harala, to come (which I thought was so cute) and she did. Andrew asked my dad to give a talk on baptism, Patty Newton to speak on the Holy Ghost, Sterling, Rachel and Sophia Davis to do a special musical number, Leslie Bachelder to play piano, Elsie Davis to conduct, my mom to give the opening prayer and Tami Siebert to give the closing prayer. Like I said, it was a day filled with people who love him.

We are really proud of him and his decision and how much he has learned to be ready for baptism. He's big...that's what I keep thinking...big and great.

It's The Candy Countdown...

I hope when you read that title, you read it with 'The Final Countdown' tune from the 80's in your head...
So, this is year two for the candy countdown and I am loving it as much as last year - and so do the kids.

The night of Halloween after the kids went to bed, Greg and I wrapped up all of the candy and hung it up. The kids were thrilled to see the candy hanging in the morning and have been doing a great job of sharing the candy each night.

We started with 55 days til Christmas, but it's amazing how quickly our chain is going! It will be here before we know it...just in time for stocking candy!

Tis the season...

Not 'that' season...at least not until after Thanksgiving! But, the season of fall...the season of caramel apples! I can hardly resist an 'apple pie caramel apple' - it might not be a good thing that I love making them...This year I made apples for the kid's teachers, people I visit teach and for everyone at Greg's work. It was fun to take them around and fun to eat them of course!

Halloween...wait, is it November 19th??

These pictures are a little bit backwards, but that's okay! Here we are after all of the excitement was over. We were eating pizza and looking at the candy piles!! It was a really fun night.

Here is my little trio...Obi, a bumblebee princess and a storm trooper...what more could a parent ask for?

I love, love, love this picture. I think that Zach is trying to look tough, but he just looks super mad!

Andrew knew exactly how he wanted to pose for his pictures...he didn't need any directing!

And here is the little bumblebee princess herself...I am really biased, but she is so cute!

1 down, 2 to go!

Minnesota finally got some of the nasal mist for H1N1, but only Ava falls into the right category to be able to get it at this point. I thought that I could get it for the boys as well, but I was wrong! I'm still hoping they'll open it up soon for all children...I would love to at least get all of the kids their first dose. Here's hoping for a sudden influx of nasal mist...talk about something I never thought I would be wishing for!
