A sibling trip
Greg and Ken decided not to do a motorcycle trip this year. They did 20 years of the motorcycle trip and last year they said they were going to do something different. I wasn't sure if they could really let it go, but they chose to do a sibling trip this year instead. They had some friends that they grew up with who are race car drivers and so they went to a race and got the entire "behind the scenes" experience and got to see their friends too.
Greg said they had an awesome time. I'm glad he got to go and spend time with his siblings (minus Barry this year) and make such good memories.
Cross Country
Zach started running cross country and the meets are HUGE!
I love this picture. I called out to Zach when he was with a group of friends and he turned and flashed this great smile. What a cute boy.
I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to find him in the sea of boys.
There he is!
He did a great job! He was tired, but was really proud of how he ran...so were we!
A fairy stream
When we went to the garden store in Utah and saw all of the fairy garden items, I saw some really cool things that had been made. Ponds, rivers, towns, all kinds of things. I got the bug to make a stream and pond. I went to a craft store and bought these silicone pieces and cut them and constructed this "arrow" looking thing. Ava was very excited to be in on a project for a fairy garden!
It might not be super high tech - actually it's super low tech - with cardboard, cut up silicone and tape!
Then we put marble like disks in the base of the silicone and then I poured it with resin. Here's hoping!
We waited 24 hours and...it worked!
It might not look exactly like a stream and pond now, but once it's buried at ground level and has some dirt around the edges, I think it will be a great addition to our fairy garden. We are excited to get an area set up!
Ribbit
We have a pond just beyond our back yard, which means we have plenty of frogs! The kids have been in heaven...froggy heaven.
Sweet friends
The RS sisters in Duluth went out to get ice cream and took some pictures to send to me. Love, love, love them!
Lean, Mean, Football Machine
Andrew's football team was doing a fundraiser at a restaurant and we went to grab some dinner. They had this cut out and Zach got behind it. I thought he looked so cute...
and then so mean! I love it.
Back to reality
The day after I got home, my legs were screaming at me. Screaming. I put on my compression socks, started the laundry and sat and folded clothes all day. I think I ended up doing 6 loads of laundry...it was a much needed break and a much needed laundry day!
That is a serious understatement!
On Sunday I went to Orem and met Jeri and Grandpa for lunch. Beth and her family came too and we had a really nice lunch. I was trying to figure out if I was going to go back to Grandpa's house for a while and decided to look to get the exact time of my flight...I knew it was a bit after 7:00. When I looked at the confirmation, I was shocked to see that my flight was leaving at 5:40 not 7:40! My phone had shown me the time in Indiana - not Utah - AAAAHHHHH!
I had to rush out and race to SLC, but decided to give it a try. Beth was on standby to come and get me once I got to the airport (because I was pretty sure I couldn't make the flight). I decided to forgo getting gas in my rental car and rushed straight to check in. I had to check a bag (as you can see) and even though I checked it in at 5:20 - you can see that in the small print on the side - I made the flight!! I hobbled my poor legs through the airport as quickly as I could, but it was brutal. I was very glad to make the flight and was definitely the last one on, but "late check" was a serious understatement this day.
Despite the wild end of the trip, it was wonderful. I am so glad that I was able to go, be at Kelsie's wedding and spend time with so many people that I love.
Kelsie and Jared's wedding
The beautiful flowers...
and the beautiful couple!
Grandma Sherry and Dylan.
It was such a lovely day at the Payson Temple - it was a blessing to be able to be there for their sealing. The ceremony was very touching and I'm just so glad to have been a part of it.
Look at these beauties!
Kiss!
Showing our love to the new bride.
After the ceremony, I went back to Emy's parent's house and then went to lunch and went shopping for a few hours.
Holly modeling her new shirt!
That night I headed to the reception and as per Kelsie's request, I was in a dance with her, Debbie, Haylie, and one of her roommates. I wasn't necessarily in full dance mode (with my legs), but I left it all on the floor for Kelsie! We practiced the day before and had a great time getting it all together. It was a fun memory to make and I'm so glad I could be a part of it.
We had a great time dancing the night away and celebrating the wedding.
Cutting the cake and wrestling over feeding each other the cake.
Jim and Kelsie had a really fun father/daughter dance and at one point Jim lifted Kelsie up and spun her around at about waist height. It was impressive and so Jim!
Kelsie and Jared's dance was much more sweet and slow.
I love these kids!
They had these awesome sparklers on the way out to their car - it was a beautiful and fun way to send them off for the night.
It was a wonderful day. Absolutely wonderful.
