The Riverton Parade

The city of Riverton's parade was on the evening of the 3rd of July.  We walked over with my parents and Beth's family and sat down in a great spot and waiting for things to get going.

Zach found some snails...

And Ava made little habitats for them!

Andrew answered a question right from the emcee and won this beautiful hat!  He was looking pretty patriotic.

Most of the floats going by were throwing out candy (almost everyone had salt water taffy).  The kids came up with a plan to use their blanket as a tool to catch the candy.  It was a great idea and they made out like bandits!  Almost everyone who went by tried to throw the candy into the blanket...it was a genius idea!

Floats!

I thought this one was really fun...

and I thought this was so cute!

My selfie...keeping the sun away and looking like I'm headed to the beach!

More floats!  Zach and Ryan were trying to get the girls to dance on the float!  It was really funny.  They didn't get them to dance, but they did get blown a kiss!

Another fun float!

Near the end there were these monster trucks that would ride up onto each other's tires.  It was fun to watch them and the kids thought it was great!

It was a fun night and a great way to kick off the 4th of July festivities!!

BYU with the cousins

Rick, my dad and I took the kids down to BYU for the day.  I loved this picture of Ava and Dani skipping down the halls holding hands.  They were so happy to be together!

Ava, Lauren, Dani and Ryan in the art museum...making their own art!

And hamming it up for the camera!

All the kids together...what a cute crew!

Playing outside the museum...

Some of the new displays...this one rotates...there were quite a few "grim" animal catching recreations in the museum.  Very circle of life-esque!

I loved this display of the beetles...

With all of the designs on the beetle being made out of beetles.

And the butterfly...

Where the entire thing was made out of butterflies!  I thought it was beautiful.

The liger!!!  All of the kids are doing their best Napoleon Dynamite impression!

Since Andrew was wearing the right shirt for it, we thought he should get right up and lay down by the liger!

Then we walked down to the new garden area and let the kids play for a while.  Dani and Ava were holding hands again...it makes me heart melt.

The kids thought that they might be able to catch the ducks.  They grossly underestimated the speed of the ducks!  Here's Nate giving it a try anyway...

In the end, the boys thought they had the ducks cornered, but the ducks didn't have any problem getting away.  It was fun to watch though!

We had a great day out seeing the campus, going through the museums and just enjoying a fun day together.

Road Trip!

I decided to take a road trip with the kids this summer and head to Utah for 2 weeks.  Greg didn't have the time off of work, but since I finally had a summer without church responsibilities of camp and youth conference, I didn't want to pass up the opportunity!

I asked the kids if they wanted to do the drive in 3, 8 hour days or 2, 12 hour days.  It was unanimous that they wanted to do the 2, 12 hour days!

Who knows why this gas station had a huge fish...maybe it was called Bass Gas?  Anyway, I made the kids do jumping jacks and run around and amuse me!

Then I let them climb on the fish!

The gas station was selling these lollipops with scorpions in them.  We didn't actually buy them, we just pretended...

At the next stop they had this dinosaur.  An old Sinclair station, with a sign telling you not to play near the dinosaur.  That seemed crazy to me...put a big, green dinosaur on your property and you might as well put a sign up that says, "Play on Me".

These are just some pictures that Andrew took while we were driving...

What a cute, little road crew I had with me!!

It was so hot on the trip.  Especially for us Northlanders...we were melting!  We had the air conditioning working overtime.

We had a very smooth, very fun trip.  It was actually a great way to start our vacation!
