Once the doors were hung...

They had to be taken back off and stained!  AHHHH!!!

Luckily we can take them to Greg's work and set them up in the shop.  January in Duluth never stopped us from a full Saturday of staining!

And what might the kids be doing while we spend 12 hours staining?  How about a little math?

It's amazing to me, but they had a blast just hanging out in the conference room at Greg's work.  They could have stayed home, but they all decided to come.  They played video games, watched movies, played on the white board and just hung out...what great kids!

Taadaa!  After a long, long day, we had stained and varnished doors...all we had to do was to put them back on the hinges...and trust me, that is the easiest part!  I have never appreciated doors so much.  Now, it's time to move to trim!

Happy New Year!

We had a low key, family party for New Year's Eve.  Good food, great friends, lots of games and wonderful conversation...that's the best way to ring in the new year!

Happy New Year everyone!!!

The girl knows what she likes!

I have long since stopped picking out Ava's outfits.  Every once in a while I will ask her to switch something, but this outfit was so great to me!  Ava is bold, bright, and sassy...and her outfit said it all.  How could I not love it?

A little Lombardi

The boys have been wanting some vinyl on their bedroom wall and I finally got around to doing it over the Christmas break.  They chose a quote by Vince Lombardi, "The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work.  Hard work is the price we pay for success.  I think you can accomplish anything if you're willing to pay the price."

There was definitely a heavy influence from Andrew in picking a Lombardi quote.  We still may hang a few more up...Napoleon Dynamite and Professor Dumbledore!

DOORS!!!! I SAID DOORS!!!!

We have been in the house since the last of July and when my dad was here, we finally put the door on!!  We still have a good list of things to do on the house, but this had definitely made its way to the top of my list!

My dad, Greg and I hung 5 doors...the last in the house.  We have doors people!!!

LeAnna and Andrew Stevenson

I was asked to help decorate the church gym for LeAnna and Andrew Stevenson's reception.  They actually got married in September and had a reception out west, but came home (Andrew is from Duluth) for Christmas and did a reception here.  Here they are helping hand the ornaments inside the ring at the center of what will be the ceiling (like I did for the RS Christmas party).

Getting everything ready to go!

Up it goes...

And then the draping began!

They wanted to keep it simple, but brought these cute decorations that I helped put up.  It was just enough to make it feel nice, but simple enough to be done in a couple of hours on Saturday morning.

The cupcakes will go here...

Centerpieces with slips of paper to write things they should put on their bucket list.

And the sign in table.  It was a fun morning helping them get ready and we had a really nice time at the reception.  Congratulations Andrew and LeAnna!

Christmas Day

We always take a picture on the steps on Christmas morning.  We decided to do it this year even though the stairs are not finished, there is no trim in the upstairs, and Andrew was wearing a mask to keep from spreading the flu!  This was a real snapshot of Christmas this year!

Down they go to check out the gifts!

This year we did the "something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read".  We started with everyone opening their "something you need"...

FLIP FLOPS!!  Because we told them about the cruise we were going on - 1 month from Christmas!  It was a very fun way to start the morning!!

Ava got Andrew a GBP hat...true love!

My dad opening gifts...

Ava got paper dolls from the Whisamores...

And I got Greg a new receiver for his stereo.

TMNT legos for Zach...

And...

A new guitar!

Play for us Zach!!

Some new clothes for Ava...

Treasures from the Whisamores!

This is kind of a strange looking selfie, but you can see the awesome coral necklace that Greg got me!

Then the kids opened their present from Grandma and Grandpa Craig...in this tiny box...but it was only a clue of what could be found in the basement.  Andrew was off to find it!

Let the ping pong playing begin!!

My mom got in on the action...

As did me and my dad...

It was a family event!

After some playing, my dad and I went upstairs and made our traditional Christmas day meal - quiche and cinnamon rolls.  We had a nice, relaxing day and ate lots of good food!  Merry Christmas!
