BYU Soccer

We went down for a BYU soccer game with Beth, Rick and the kids.  We stopped at The Brick Oven for dinner first and then headed over to the game.  It was a beautiful night and we had a great time!

This Salt Lake Real player was at the game and Lauren was super excited.  She is a wonderful soccer player and is a big fan.  I told her I would go over to him with her and get their picture...it took a little moment of convincing, but not too much!

So much fun!!

SCOUT CAMP!!!

Since we were gone during scout camp in Minnesota, we signed Zach up to go to scout camp with Ryan.  They were both really excited and had a great time together.  Beth took some pictures of their adventures.  Here they are!  Heading to scout camp with a cousin makes it a special camp to remember!!!

DI treasures

The kids and I went to DI with Rick and their kids.  I don't know if it was their typical DI experience, but we sure had fun!  My job was to find outfits and their jobs were to try them on and entertain us...

Looks like we all got our jobs done!

Ava finding treasures...

I thought these shoes kind of looked like something Beth would like.  They weren't her size...

But they fit Andrew like a glove.  He's got his bag and is off to the office!  Like I said, DI treasures!!!

MKTO

When we were planning the trip, Rick had offered to get tickets for Beth and I to take Andrew and Eric to an MKTO concert.  Andrew had never been to a concert...I love a concert and I thought it would be extra fun to take the boys with Beth, so of course we said, "yes"!

It was a small venue...very small and it was standing room only.  There was a small riser area in the back - near the audio equipment and we decided to go up there.  We ended up having a great view...right above the heads of everyone else!

The opening band was fun and after they played, the boys went out and got a picture with their lead singer...so fun!

Then, on came MKTO!!!  They put on a great concert and the boys even ended up on the band's FB page after the concert (because you could easily see them above everyone else)!

Mother/son selfie at the concert!!!

MKTO...

MKTO!!

During the concert, they played these big drums in two songs and then threw the drum sticks out into the audience.  After the concert was over, the band was gone and we were walking out, I walked up to the stage and talked to the bouncer.  I was trying to find out if there were any more drumsticks so the boys could have a cool memento.  There were some uber fans trying to get information (like, tattoos of the band fans) and the bouncer would have nothing to do with them.  I think Eric was feeling like we should go, but I thought it was worth a try!

I gave the bouncer my spiel and he went on stage to look for me, but came up empty handed.  I told him it was my son's first concert and was just trying to get him something cool.  He told me to step outside of the room and wait while they were cleaning up and that he would see what he could do.  We waited (while the uber fans watched us from outside) for about 10 minutes...which is a really long time when you aren't even sure if the guy is coming back.  The bouncer finally came out and said he would try to go back to the band and see what he could come up with.

About 2 minutes later, he came back with the band's drummer!!!  He went onto the stage and got into his personal stuff and gave us the drumsticks that he had used for the whole concert!  SCORE!!!  This is the picture of the drummer, Eric, Andrew and the bouncer.  It was awesome and I was so glad that it worked out to get them the memento.  There were some definite mom bonus points being scored!  It was a great first concert...one for the record books...or at least the blog!

Danielle's baptism

We were lucky enough to be able to be in Utah for Danielle's baptism.  It was a wonderful baptism and the Spirit was really strong.  Here are my kids with Dani.

So beautiful on her baptism day!

Cute cousins!  I'm so glad we could share this special day with Dani and get to be a part of her baptism.

I just had to post a picture of Ava's hair...this is one of my favorite, but relatively simple hair-dos!  It's always fun to have somewhere to wear a fun hairstyle to!!

The 4th of July

We always make a 4th of July shirt to wear to the fireworks when we are at Beth's house.  Beth, Dani and Ava get into the groove while working on their shirts!

Andrew, Ryan and Zach start with their rubber bands...

Bring on the dye!

Andrew's Capt. America shirt!!

What a good looking group of cousins - ready for the fireworks!!

It was a beautiful night and the fireworks display was great.  Here's Ava with her sparkler...one of my favorite things as a kid on the 4th!

Fun at BYU

Upstairs in the BYU bookstore there are computers - computers that are begging for kids to take pictures of themselves to make the screen savers.  Well, let's not ever let an opportunity like that pass by without taking it!  Here are Nathan, Andrew and Eric posing for the ladies...

And Zach...um, yeah...it's definitely a look!!  Good times at BYU, good times!
