School registration

This morning was school registration for the kids. We went in, got their schedules, books, computers, school IDs, pictures, etc. I even helped get Zach's schedule changed so he could take drama instead of P.E. It took a little convincing, but we got P.E. waived. He is really excited!

Ava picked up a little high school swag too...what a great model!

Let the 2021-2022 school year begin (well, in 9 more days)!

Relaxing at Costco

Greg and I were at Costco last night and we saw this couch that we both liked. We ended up sitting on it and then Beth called and we started talking. We thought we were in our own living room for a bit there and really made ourselves at home! I told Beth that people were starting to look at us, so it was the cue that we had gotten a touch too relaxed!

Hydrangea Love

Greg and I looked up how to trim a hydrangea tree this spring and trimmed ours WAY back. It was so far back that I was afraid we had gone too far. I was worried we wouldn't get any blooms this year.

No need to worry!

I'm in love!!

A visit with the Adams

The Adams came into town on Saturday afternoon and shortly after they got here, we went to the McLean County Fair. We found out it is the biggest county fair in the state and we also learned that McLean County is the biggest corn and soybean producing county in the United States! We were excited to check it out, even though our expectations were not super high.

We went right to the area with the baby animals...oh the piglets!

After we checked out the pigs, chicks, sheep, etc., we went and made the rounds of the fair food! We tried all kinds of stuff, and even went back for a couple of "one mores". The cinnamon roll funnel cake was probably the fan favorite.

Walking around...and heading to "the main event" of the day!

YEP! A demolition derby! There were 3 rounds and it was actually pretty funny and entertaining. Some of the cars were amazing, and some couldn't even make it to the start. We tried to embrace the experience and just be a part of something new to us!

She doesn't look happy, but she was having fun!

At one point, some mud was flipped so far into the crowd that it went half way up the grandstands and landed on my glasses!

After the derby, we checked out the goats, sheet and cows...

This cute little one was only 1 week old!

And we ended the night with the rides!

Look at all the fun moms can have at the fair while their kids are riding rides!

It was a super fun way to spend a Saturday with the best of friends!

On Sunday we got up and had brunch, went to the Spanish Branch to hear Andrew speak, came home, watched a movie, and finished with a yummy dinner. The Adams needed to leave by 7:00 and we got pretty close to that! It was too short, but we were so excited for the time we did have. We love the Adams and it was good for our souls to spend the weekend together.

YW Camp 2021

Our Stake did YW Camp a little different this year because of Covid. They did a day camp where the girls came from 1-9 each day for four days. Ava went to work in the mornings and then to camp in the afternoon. She had a good time and came home with these pictures...

These are some pictures that the leaders posted on FaceBook...

This was the picture that they worked on throughout the week. Each girl did 1 square of the painting (paint by numbers) and then they were put together in the end to create the picture of Christ. I saw this a few years ago and wanted our Stake to do it...I'm glad Ava got to participate in this activity.

I love YW Camp and I'm glad Ava got to attend, even if it was a little different than usual. Hopefully next year will be back to normal, but I'm grateful for all the effort that was put in to make this year special.
