Some times you just have to take a screen shot!

Every once in a while, I see a meme and really like it and have to take a screen shot.  Here are two...

And...

What a great face!

A care package

Ava's piano teacher from Carmel posted a few weeks ago that her daughter, Kate, broke both arms!  I used to watch Kate and her younger sister during Ava's lessons, so I called right away to see if I could send something.  I decided to wait a few weeks until some of the immediate attention died down, but then sent a care package.

Lisa sent these cute pictures back to me.  Kate and her new dragon, Emerald.

And some coloring pages that really just require water!

I did a lot of coloring and a lot of playing with dragons during the couple of years I watched these girls, so I knew they would be a hit.  Kate is doing well and is healing nicely, so that's a huge blessing.  Ahhh, the adventures of playing on the banister!

Virtual camp

Ava got this box of treats and treasures to be able to participate in a virtual YW Camp!  We mailed it to her in Minnesota so she could do it.

I sent some homemade scrunchies for her secret sister.  I love that this area still decided to try to do something fun and to do their best to give the girls a good experience - even if it was virtual!

Not my favorite weather

Take a look at the weather and where we are...such a crazy bad storm!  The tornado sirens were going off, the weather service was issuing warning for lightening, flash flood and tornados and I was in the basement trying to distract myself.  Let's just say that I don't enjoy hearing those sirens go off.

It's hard to capture the eerie color of the sky, but there was nothing normal about how it looked.  I was waiting for Toto and Dorothy to swirl past...ugh!

Third time's a charm

We ordered shoes three times to find the best fit, but we finally got it right!  Hopefully these will be comfortable, durable, and pretty weather tolerant!

Hard to say goodbye

So they didn't!  At the very last minute, we all made the decision to let Ava and Zach go back to Minnesota with the Gores!  Greg is headed that way in a little over a week, so it worked out perfectly!

In the car on the way to MN...

Enchiladas - authentic recipes from Guatamala - thanks to the twins!

And some Mario Cart to round out the fun.  The kids are having a great time and we are happy that they get to spend some time with their friends.  Quarantine has been hard, but these little moments make it so much better!

Skies, skies, and more skies

MTC breaks

Andrew is studying spanish about 8 hours a day.  He has little breaks in training during the day...they are usually 8-12 minutes, plus breaks for lunch and dinner.  We kind of have some games that are always on the table and we just play them for a few minutes, then he goes back to class.

A quick cuddle with Duke while checking the weather...

And more games!

He is working super hard and we are playing lots of games...in tiny sections!

Sunbather

Duke loves to go outside and soak up the sun...I stay under the shaded porch and watch him!  Gotta love a summer day!

A picture from Cortney

Cortney was visiting at Jody's house and this double rainbow appeared right off of their property...so beautiful that she had to share...and so did I!

And the beat goes on (da da da d da)

Well, it took me a couple of hours and some pretty tedious soldering, but I replaced the wires in the headphones, got them soldered back in place and now they WORK!!  I was pretty excited and pretty proud of myself.  It's really nice to still have the working headphones too!

And the 2 years begins!

Elder Bacon!

His new suit arrived too...

Starting the MTC - online version!

His set up in his room!

It's a strange time to be starting the MTC, but Andrew has taken the whole experience in stride and has done a really great job adapting to new expectations and situations.  I think he is ready to work hard and excited to learn and prepare to be a missionary in the field.  Let the 2 years begin!

Andrew's setting apart

When Andrew's name came up on our Stake President's list of people he needed to set apart, he had to call us to find our who we were.  Since Andrew submitted papers at BYU and his home ward had been in Carmel, it was the first time our new Stake President had heard of him.  He told us that he was going to be out of town when Andrew needed to be set apart and after a series of calls, we found out we were going to need to have Andrew set apart by a different Stake President.

When I realized that was the option, I quickly asked if any Stake President could do the setting apart and was told, "yes".  I called Dave Gore right away and asked if it was possible for him to meet us, or come here and set Andrew apart.  He was happy to come and brought Kathy, Ben and Carrie with him.  They came in on Sunday and Andrew was set apart on Tuesday night.  It was a wonderful visit with friends who are literally like family and it made the setting apart extra special.  My parents and Beth and some of her kids were face timed in, so that was great too.

Here is Andrew right before the setting apart and blessing...

Greg, Andrew and Dave right after...

Proud grandparents...

Proud parents...

Carrie, Zach, Andrew, Ava and Ben...

And then they wanted to add Duke!  It was a beautiful end to a special visit with the Gores.

Headed to Champaign

Greg and I drove to Champaign to meet our friends Sarah and Bill for dinner.  We went to a great place with outdoor seating and yummy food.  It was so nice to see them after a couple of months of isolation.  We are really glad that Carmel isn't too far from here and that we can see friends for an evening - especially when we meet in the middle.  We were following a pretty bad storm and this set of double rainbows showed up right over Champaign.  We felt like won a pot of gold that night as we talked, laughed and ate with friends, so it was appropriate!
