I couldn't believe the color of these crushed raspberries...I wished that I could have bought some ribbon or fabric this color. This was right before it got turned into jam!
Too delicious not to blog about...

Sometimes it's worth the shipping!

Mystery crafting...
I have been hard at work on some new crafts, but can't blog about them! Beth and I decided that this year for Christmas we would make the gifts. So...that's what I've been doing. Obviously I can't post the pictures, but trust me...it's cute stuff!
I also am getting ready to work on some new hair bows (yes, just what Ava needs) that my friend Melissa has shown me. Those I can post! Now all I need is a little bit of time...hmmm...

It ain't Sothebys...
Just in case you were wondering...it ain't Sothebys. Yesterday I went to the Depot to a free appraisal that they hold once a month for 3 hours. I was pretty excited to go because a good friend gave me an antique bracelet and I have been wondering about it and would love to know more about it.When I arrived (with all 3 kids in tow) we signed in and had a seat. I was sitting very close to the table where the two appraisers were and I was immediately amused with the lack of...hmmm...tact. I heard the appraiser (one appraiser did most of the talking and the other did a great job of backing him up) tell a man that his paintings were "garage sale paintings" and when he told the appraiser that someone once offered him $300 for one of them, he said, "that's what we in the business call a fool's bid - because if someone is willing to big that high, you're a fool for not taking it". Nice. He told another guy that the wall decoration he had from 1890-1900 was "old" and that "he could really see the age on it". He also told that same guy that it would be a lot more valuable if it was made out of porcelain - to which the other guy added, "or copper". I felt like I was watching SNL. It was awesome.
Here's what I found out about my bracelet..."it looks oriental"... "the real question is if it's real silver"..."I would just go to bed assuming it's real and then you'll be happy"..."no" - there are no antique dealers who specialize in jewelry in Duluth and "that oriental jewelry is just so hard, there are just so many orientals and it can take a lifetime to know all their stuff".
I don't think they are going to be asked to Antique's Roadshow anytime soon...and Sothebys isn't taking applications...but, if I had some way to get them to SNL...
Grandma and Grandpa time
These puppets look nothing like my parents...I just thought they were cute and grandparenty...I just have to put that disclaimer in before my mom is totally offended!!
My parents came into town last Wednesday and we went, went, went for the last week! We went to the aquarium, the children's museum, the zoo, a minor league baseball game, soccer games for both boys, out to eat a few times, Greg and I double dated with my parents, I had a lunch date with my mom while my dad went with Greg and the boys for a picnic, we went to the beach, my dad cycled twice (once all the way to Two Harbors), and that's just what I can think of off the top of my head!
We had a wonderful time and it went by way too fast. The kids were really happy to have some new attentive playmates and Greg and I were happy for the visiting (and the playmates). Grandparents are good.
I don't know when the next visit will be, but we will all be looking forward to it!!

Happy Birthday Jonna!!
On Friday morning (very early) I flew out to LAX to celebrate my friend Jonna's 40th birthday. Holly, Christina and Jonna met me there - we were college room mates - and we went right to Glen Ivy Day Spa in Corona. We had so much fun while we were there!! They have the therapudic mud, hot springs, salt baths, mineral baths, grotto clay treatments that they paint on you and of course all of the regular spa treatments...and we did it ALL!!! Everyone did at least one treatment plus the pools, mud, grotto and baths. What a fun and relaxing way to spend Jonna's birthday. Afterwards we went to dinner and then stayed up late laughing!
Saturday we spent the day at Knott's Berry Farm. It was so much fun to go to an amusement park with my girlfriends! We screamed, laughed, laughed and screamed. And we fit in a 2 1/2 hour lunch in the middle of it all.
We also spent some time shopping at Irvine Spectrum. It was so much fun to shop with these girls! We all found some little treasures, tried some cupcakes, spent some time in the bookstore and of course...ate! To top it all off, Roger even made us some of his homemade clam chowder which we ate late at night while chatting and laughing. It was a great 3 day weekend with the best of friends. Happy birthday Jon-Jons!
Youth Conference 2010
I just got back from Youth Conference yesterday and am so pleased with how everything went. From bowling with the YC committee the night before, to the classes and temple on Thursday, to an amazing service project (you literally couldn't walk into these woods when we got there and within 3 hours - it looked like this), plenty of play time and literally the best testimony meeting I've ever been to at a youth activity - I couldn't be happier with how everything went!I really have been thinking what a blessing it is to be in my calling. With both YW camp and YC, I have had times where I felt overwhelmed with the amount of work and time that was involved, but both times I have not only been completely happy with the outcome, but have also felt the blessings of being involved and have known that what we did as a committee was what we were supposed to be doing.
We are already excited for next year and believe it or not, we have already got the wheels in motion for our next YC committee...12 months and counting!
