Silly dog

Greg was using the Chirp to stretch out his back and Duke couldn't help but want to get on his lap at the same time. He thinks any time someone is on the floor, that they are there to play with him. What a cute, silly dog.

Opening night!

The set was ready...

The programs were printed...

The cast boards were up...showing Zach as Lenny and Ava as the head of hair and makeup!

And then the show went on! And...it was fantastic! I really loved it and was so proud of the kids!

After the shows are over, I will go to this website and get some of the production shots. They are going to make up the show they missed on Friday by doing 3 shows this week.

Zach (with his wig), Luci, and Ava after the show. Luci joined Ava's crew, so that was really fun.

Somya and Zach - they are married in the play. She was fantastic too!

The cast and crew!

Prop help

When we were helping paint the set, Vern mentioned that there was a gift of Steuben Glass in the play and she had been wondering what the packaging would look like, but she couldn't find it online. I helped her find it and we realized it had a very specific look. It's a small detail, that almost noone would know, but she was still wishing it could be right. Jen had a grey box and I knew I had the white ribbon and could cut vinyl to look like their logo. We had it ready in time for the opening on Saturday night...and Vern was very happy! I'm a details person, so I could appreciate her wanting it done.

Go Jessie Go!

Jessie Zollinger tried out and made the BYU women's rugby team and this past Saturday was the first game she got to play. We live streamed the game and it was so fun to watch.

Then, Jessie got the ball and scored!!! There were two teammates calling the game from the box and they couldn't tell who scored, so we texted in to the live stream.

Here is Zach's message as it came up! They saw it and announced Jessie as scoring. It was awesome!

This was on the team FB page later that day. Go Jessie Go!

The bat signal

I got a call on Friday morning, just as I was settling in for another snow day, to ask me for some help with the set for the play. The drama teacher "put out the bat signal" to Jen, and Jen knew she couldn't do it alone, so she called me. Vern (the drama teacher and director) wanted all of the walls painted with a sponge painting technique to look more 80s. I met Jen at the school at 9:30 and we worked until about 5:00 to get the painting done. The kids got permission to hold a dress rehearsal even though school had been cancelled, so the play could open on Saturday. They showed up about 4:00, and when I was done with painting, I went and helped Ava a little bit by doing some hair and makeup. I got home about 6:30. It wasn't how I was expecting to spend my day, but I was happy to help.

One completely sponge painted set! Check!

Let it snow!

It started to snow on Tuesday night while we were driving home and they had already cancelled school on both Wednesday and Thursday before we got home. There was a lot of wind with the snow, so we got areas where there was no snow and areas where it was 2 feet deep. These were the drifts at our back door. They ended up keeping the kids home on Friday too. I wasn't super sad to have a few snow days...it was nice to have a few days home with nothing going on - after a very busy month.

The Mayo and Debbie

I had two days of appointments at the Mayo Clinic to see if I was a good candidate for some new treatments and a possible surgery for the issues with my legs. I went through a series of tests and consultations and ultimately did have the treatment done. Depending on the outcomes, I may decide to have surgery, but I don't need to figure that out right now. They were really good visits and I'm glad I went. Greg and I drove down on Sunday and stayed with Jen and Jerry Brewer for two nights. They have been so generous every time we have come to the Mayo.

This rehab area is in the facility where I had by treatments...it's pretty impressive and you definitely feel like you are in Minnesota to have a state of the art hockey rehab facility!

When I told Debbie I was going to be in Rochester, she didn't hesitate for one minute to say she would drive two hours (four round trip) to meet us for dinner after our last appointment on Monday. I love Debbie and I also felt very loved by Debbie. We have a long history of posing with our chips and sombreros, so we couldn't pass up this opportunity. It was a crazy, decorated restaurant, so that made it even more fun!

What a wonderful way to spend an evening!

On the way home, we stopped at a gas station that had a bunch of "stuff" in it. These wallets were making me laugh and I had to send a picture to Ken and Kim. I should have bought one for a white elephant gift...next time!

Another night of great skies

All-State Choir

Zach made the all-state choir and had his big performance last weekend. These are the 288 kids from around the state of Illinois who were in the choir.

Zach was in the very back row. He is in a black robe with the orange collar.

They also had the all-state orchestra and band play at the same concert.

This was the conductor of the choir. Zach really liked her and said she was one of the nicest people he has ever worked with.

Zach on the jumbo-tron!

All of the groups!

Killian, Zach, and Nick after the show.

My cute kids!

Proud parents!!

The Principal's Reception

Both Zach and Ava got these letters inviting them to the Principal's Reception later this month. They are being recognized for having a weighted GPA of 5.0 or better. Proud mama moment!

Goodbye to Sister Departee

Sister Departee (in the middle) served in our ward for over 6 months. We have the missionaries in our house every other Monday night, so we have gotten to know her really well. We are excited for her next chapter, but will definitely miss her. Best of luck Sister Departee!

Beautiful backyard skies

Looking back on Egypt

We have been home from Egypt for a few weeks now and I finally got the posts from the trip completed. As I looked back and wrote about it all, I was overwhelmed with everything we did and saw. I know I was there experiencing it, but to start blogging it let it all come back in a different way. I'm so grateful we were able to take the trip and have those experiences. What a huge blessing.

I know I already posted hundreds and hundreds of pictures, but here are a few that other people posted that I'd like to keep...
