A family dance and a broken nose

There was a family fun night at Ava's school on Friday night...these pictures aren't great, but they show her having fun!

We all went together, but the boys had friends there and decided to go outside and play basketball during the dance.

That did not end well for Andrew.  He got hit in the nose with his friend's head and the head won!

He was pretty miserable while we were waiting in the ER...but he was a trooper.

Can you see it turning slightly to the left (his right)?  Again, not ideal.

Once the ibuprofen kicked in, he could muster a smile.  Basically, they told us to wait 5 to 7 days and let the swelling come down and then see an ENT or plastic surgeon to make sure it is set exactly straight and that there aren't any problems internally.  We have an appointment on Thursday afternoon.  Here's hoping that all looks good and we are done!  It was one crazy family dance.

Prince

I have been a huge Prince fan since I was 10 years old and the news of his death was very sad to me.  I told Greg that it is strange to mourn the passing of someone you don't actually know, but when they have made such an impact on you, it feels personal.  I have so many memories where Prince is playing as the soundtrack to the memory.  I am sad that he passed so early, it's a terrible loss to the world of music.

Being in Minnesota, there were tributes to Prince everywhere.  Enger Tower went purple the night he died and we went over to see it.

It was a rainy night, but we were out there with hundreds of people.  The lights made it so we were literally standing in the purple rain...so fitting.

This picture really shows the color of the tower that night.  I know it will be silly to some people and others will think it isn't a big deal, but as a fan, it was a sad night standing there in the purple rain.

Be prepared

I got Andrew's Court of Honor invitations made and sent out this past week and have been getting everything ready for the event.

Chocolate bars that we covered...

A log that I got that will hopefully be part of my centerpieces and serving pieces!

Working on the centerpieces...

Framing the flag I had flown over the Capitol for Andrew.

And getting together some pictures for the tables.

I am certainly feeling the call to be prepared...wait, was that for the moms?

I love this little dog

Love.

Sharon's 40th Birthday

Our friend Sharon had a really neat idea to celebrate her 40th birthday.  She hosted a series of service projects around the community - under the Forever Yung (her last name) title.  This is us at the Blood Drive.

A week later, once all of the festivities were over, Jeana and I taught Sharon how to make cream puffs from scratch.  She has wanted to learn (since I brought some over a few years ago) and we just haven't coordinated to actually do it.  Jeana and I knew it would be the perfect way to spend the day together, laugh, and enjoy a delicious treat!  Happy birthday Sharon!

On the hunt for agates

We went on our first agate hunt of the year after church on Sunday.  We went to the beach and it was so windy and cold that we had to get on the ground to block the wind coming off the lake.  It was sunny and in the 50's, but that cold wind was brutal!  We made a rock block and got on the ground and searched...yes, that makes us a little crazy...maybe a lot crazy.

Greg being crazy...

Me sitting in my pit of rocks - Shari always laughed at me that I did that I hunt this way!

I found this beauty.

And this monster (that I'm not sure what type of rock it is)...Shari is hopefully going to find out for me!

Here is Ava's stash.  We had a great time and had a lot of little agates to add to our collection and a few big pieces to tumble.  Not a bad day!

Supercuts is open!

Time for haircuts!  Ava's hair is SO long, but she doesn't want me to cut it.  It needed a trim...she would let me do that.

Next was Zach...I gave him a different haircut and I think it turned out really cute.  I made him make a muscle for me!

By the time I was taking pictures, Andrew was already playing...so there isn't a close picture of his hair, but it looks nice too!

I also cut Dave and Ben Gores' hair too...I really was like a Supercuts!
