Precious Time

I am in a cycle of having to choose to put things aside due to time restrictions, and then go back and work on them during my school breaks.  It's something I have been doing for so long that I almost can't remember it any other way.  Maybe it is always going to be this way for me...I'm definitely not known for having tons of excess time on my hands.  But, I'm grateful for the breaks and grateful that I can go back and do things like update this blog.  My posting is pretty feast and famine, but in the end, it is all here.  It hasn't been easy to keep a 13 year record like this, but I'm so grateful that I have - even if it's done in a feast.  This is post 2,695...here's to many, many more!

Something to look forward to

I have been really interested in taking some of the Master Classes that are offered, but know that I don't have any time right now.  I told Greg not to get me a year's membership for Christmas because I knew I would waste months of it...instead, save if for graduation!  I am less than 4 months away from graduation now...and as if that wasn't enough, I have this to look forward to too!  Maybe I'll need a cronut to go with it!

A natural beauty

This picture makes me smile!  Holly sent this to me while we were talking on the phone.  She went to bed with her hair wet and this is how she woke up...so awesome...so awesome!

Motherhood

I saw a picture of this statue and thought it was amazing.  A mother holding her young child with the weight of her responsibilites on her back.  I loved it.  Motherhood.

Heartbreaking Stats

This came out about a week ago and it has only gotten worse.  I am gutted.  I am praying the vaccine works well and is available soon, because this is too much.

Seriously? It's too cute!

I mean, come on.  That is some extreme cuteness.  Extreme.

A little Christmas cheer

We got a dusting of snow and we couldn't be happier!!  Bring on the Christmas cheer!!

A good copycat

One of my friends sent me a recipe for the chicken gnocchi soup from the Olive Garden.  It's a pretty good copycat and was a pretty big hit at our house!  Yum!

More mission pictures!

Finally

When Holly and Jonna came to visit in October, we did a bunch of crafts, but didn't quite finish.  I haven't had any time to work on them since they left.  I finished my finals this week and on Wednesday I finally had time to finish things up!

This reindeer needed another coat of paint...

This sign needed to be completely done...

These little stands needed just a touch up...

Same as these trees...

And then, the reindeer needed his bell and a good place to live for the month!

After I was done with the crafting, I wrapped all of the Christmas presents!!  I had plenty of time and could just sit and enjoy a show while I worked.  It was awesome.  At the end of the day, I had checked all of the tasks off my list and had enjoyed the tasks along the way.  Ahhh, so nice to be on semester break!

Christmas in a box

Here is the pile of stuff we sent Andrew and his companions.  Some treats for stockings, and a few little things as gifts.  We also put a small tree (one we weren't using) in the box and some ornaments that we never need to see again.  Off it went!  Hopefully his Christmas in a box gets there before Christmas and he and his companions can enjoy it!  Merry Christmas Andrew...we love you and will miss you this year!

Happy Birthday Greg

I was finishing Greg's birthday cake...

While the kids were giving Greg a haircut!  It looks like Ava is in isolation, but she is just trying to keep Duke in the room and out of the hair!  Zach did the clipper part and Ava did the scissors section.  They did a great job!

We had one of Greg's favorite dinners (creamy tomato soup with grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches) and then started watching an old western movie (The Sons of Katie Elder).  About half way through the movie, we stopped for cake!

Greg was smelling the cake and then...

He did this!

Then we sang!

We didn't get it all in exactly the right order, but we did get it all!  Happy Birthday Greg...you are one of a kind and I hope 53 is a fantastic year!!

Covid from afar

There isn't much you can do to support your friends who are dealing with Covid, but sending their kids cookies is all we could think of!  Jonna and Roger both have Covid, so the entire family is under strick quarantine.  Holly and I sent a little love to the kids to help them get through the long and boring days!

A favor full of heart

Dylan Zollinger is a missionary in Raleigh, but has never been very close to where the Carliles live.  But, he finally got transferred and is really close to them.  They did me a big favor and picked up and personally delivered some groceries that I ordered for him and his companion.  It was so fun to get this picture and see them all together...it made my heart happy!

A teeny tiny seminary craft

We had a little activity at our last Doctrinal Mastery night for the semester.  I had never seen this simple craft before, but thought it was so cute.

They are made out of the Hershey's nuggets.

I'm so glad we have been able to meet each week and that we were able to get through it all without any issues surrounding Covid.  We will do it again next semester, and hopefully after that, we can meet without so many restrictions.

What a good girl

Ava's Vice Principal stopped by our house and dropped off this award for Ava.  It was an awesome surprise and we are so proud of Ava!  It was a teacher nominated award, making it all the better.  Way to go Ava!

Seminary Cereal

More of our "go to" birthday gift for our seminary kids!

Eh

I saw a recipe that was circulating online about these muffins from Disney that are supposed to be amazing.  They are gingerbread muffins with cream cheese filling.  I decided to give them a try.

They were fine.  I have no idea what all the hubbub is about though.  I also don't know why I get sucked into trying these types of recipes that I find online - instead of sticking to really good patisserie chef's recipes.  Every once in a while, the write up is good enough that I believe the hype and my family is always disappointed.  I should remember that these types of recipes have better article writers than chefs backing them.  My official review: eh.

These boys

I love these boys.  They are such great friends and have tons of fun doing nothing together.  I'm really grateful for the Sanchez family and that they have been really careful with Covid so we feel like we can blend together when the timing works out.  Ethan came and saw us for 2 days, and it was great.  We are excited to hopefully see him and his family again over Christmas break.

Boxes and boxes

When all of the Christmas shopping is done online, and almost everything ships separately, you end up with boxes and boxes.  I had to open everything up and figure out what needed to be re-shipped after wrapping and what stayed here.  Glad we can recycle boxes!

A drive by

Greg went right through Safford, Arizona when he was on a motorcycle trip with Ken.  He drove up to Andrew's apartment, played with the little neighborhood dog Andrew loves and drove around the town.  Luckily, he didn't actually see Andrew (since Andrew isn't allowed to do that), but he did the drive by.

Greg said it's a cute little town and he was happy to see it.  I thought it was fun to see it through some pictures and to see the dog, but was even more glad that he didn't run break any rules on his drive by!

Oh Mama

When the Carliles were here visiting, Kim mentioned a Christmas song that I had never heard of before.  She played it for me and we laughed and laughed!  It is a sappy song about a little boy who wants to buy shoes for his mama before she dies.  I had never heard it because it is country...outside of my listening genres.  Anyway, Holly called me a few weeks later and asked if I would know the reference if she said, "I'd like these shoes for my mama"...I told her only if it was in reference to the Christmas song.  It was!  Someone had been shocked she had never heard of it and asked her to call anyone to ask them.  It ended in this...a little video for Holly!

Worth reposting

Every once in a while I see something online that really speaks to me...here are just a few...

This last one has a huge story that goes with it, but it made me laugh SO, SO hard!  The woman ordered this custom baby mermaid and her daughter's reaction is so great.  It is one ugly doll!  Let's just say, it doesn't end how you think it might.  You should look it up and have a good laugh!

Insta-famous

My friend sent me this picture from EFY's Instagram page...she circled Zach.  Ryan is almost all the way to the left in the blue.  They are Insta-famous!
