What a winter!!

We've had a really snowy late winter and we have gotten some great photos to prove it.  Here's the view from inside looking out!

I love when the trees are all covered like this!

The view down our sidewalk...

And down the street...

And from the other end of the street!

This much snow makes for some big snowbanks!

Surprise!!!  Ava's inside!

 Fun in the snow!!!

Check out these show banks!  I could easily stand in these!

Our fun little snow bunnies...or maybe wild, little, snow beasts!!

Rocking it 80's style!

We got invited to a great 80's theme, birthday party for 3 couples that are all turning 40 this year.  It was a great reason to break out Greg's famous 80's costume again!

I went in a new direction and did a Boy George look!

Rarrrrrr!

Here are the 3 birthday girls...Princess Leah was so great!

The top of my head is in this shot, but it gives you a good idea of the size of the party.  There were between 250 and 300 people!  They borrowed all of my posters and table cloths and then added all of the neon balloons and fun other decorations.

Here you can see the birthday boys with their wives...it adds a guy from Top Gun, Rambo and George Michael...such great costumes!!

Of course some Robert Palmer girls came to play up front when their song came on!

And what 80's party would be complete without a little break dancing??  This is my neighbor!  She was making us laugh really hard!

There was a huge snow storm while the party was happening, but that doesn't stop a good party in Duluth!

Ahhhhh...80's love!!!

Wolverine's Football Video

Andrew's team had a great football season this past fall and one of the parents who videoed a lot, went back and made a video of some of their highlights.  It's really fun to get to see some of their moves in action!  Here's the link:

Destination Imagination

Last Saturday all 3 of the kids were in a Destination Imagination competition.  Each of them are in a different group and have been working for 5 months trying to come up with a "solution" to the "problem" that was given to them through Destination Imagination.  Ava's challenge focused on ROY G. BIV (the colors of the rainbow) and throwing him a birthday party.  Here they are getting ready to jump in the pool at his pool party!

Here they are in line ready to take a bow at the end of their performance.  They did a great job and she had a lot of fun doing it!

Zach's group had a technical challenge where they had to build cars that were propelled by 3 different sources and then had to do a skit from a car's perspective about safety.  They came up with some really funny lines and the cutest rap song about their cars.

He had a great performance and liked it even better when they did it in front of the school a few days later - they made some new edits and got even bigger laughs!

I am the co-coach of Andrew's group and have been working with these kids for the last 5 months!  So...I have lots of pictures of them because I was with them all day!  From left to right, Andrew's group is: Meredith, Luisa, Owen, Andrew and Peyton.  They are are a great group of kids who worked extremely hard!

This is our group right before their "Instant Challenge".  It is a challenge that is given to them and then they have a few minutes (usually between 2 and 5) to figure it out.  It could require building something, acting, figuring a puzzle out or just about anything else.  It will always take team work and creativity.  Because they have no idea what they are about to face, they get a little nervous while waiting.  This was their silly attempt to reach a state of zen before facing the judges in the instant challenge...

When meditation didn't work, they tried a massage line...I'm sure it was extremely relaxing...

They made it through the instant challenge with flying colors and then had to wait some more to go on and do their skit.  There was plenty of waiting this day...

And plenty of fun...

They really are a great group of kids!

Andrew's team challenge was about wind energy and kinetic art.  They also had to incorporate an invisible visitor into their skit who would make some type of an impact on the outcome of the skit.  They worked so hard and did such a great job coming up with a creative and fun solution!

And we weren't the only ones who thought so...they won 1st place at regionals and advanced to the state competition which is on April 20th!

So, just when I thought Destination Imagination was over...we are on our way to state...watch out - here we come!!!

One of the moms videoed Andrew's skit...so if you want to check it out...here it is!
