A tisket a tasket...

I made my first basket! (This one is called a 2 pie basket because it's "purpose" is to be able to carry two pies in it.)
On Thursday night my niece Cortney and I went to a basket weaving class in Wrenshall. We were supposed to take the class in January, but it was cancelled due to weather. We were really excited to take the class and were both really happy with how our first baskets turned out. Cortney's basket was a little deeper and a little less long - I think it was called a "market" basket. She used the same braiding material and a burgundy reed where my dark brown ones are. We aren't going to take the class in April, but plan to be back for the May class! Any joiners?

Foprah is that you?

When Holly and I went to see the Oprah show about 6 years ago, the producer asked for a person in the audience to come in the doors as if they were Oprah to warm up the audience, we went so ballistic that they couldn't help but pick us to be the "fake Oprah". It was Holly's vacation and so we had her go and be "fake Oprah". She came in through the famous double doors twice and warmed up the audience. She was probably on stage for at least 10 minutes. We were so excited and so happy about the experience that we said we would have been happy to go home before the show even started. It was awesome. From that experience came the name "Foprah" short for "Fake Oprah".

There have been a few times since then that I have talked with friends about what it would be like to have our own t.v. show. Holly and I have day dreamed about it more than once! However, today when I was at a R.S. birthday breakfast, the ladies at my table and I started talking and the day dream was back - and more vivid than ever! I came home tonight and looked up the public access television station and read how to get started. There is a manditory, free class that you need to take and then there are yearly dues...but only $15 per year per person or $37.50 per organization??? What??? You mean I can pay $15 and have my own show that airs at 3:00 a.m. for no one to see?? My dreams can be a reality!!

I'm going to call on Monday to find out more information...for now, watch out Oprah - Foprah is knocking at your door!

A new diagnosis!

I went to see a different physical therapist today (one who specializes in feet) and she made a new diagnosis. She said with quite a bit of certainty that I don't have compartmental syndrome - she has worked with over a hundred patients who have it and she doesn't seem to think that I do. That was great news. As she looked at my foot and listened to the description, she decided that she thinks I have cuboid syndrome...huh?

For a very, very basic explanation - the cuboid bone in your foot is attached with 3 different sets of ligaments and she thinks that based on the amount of "play" in my foot that probably 2 of the sets are not attached any more. That allows for the bone to "hang" inside my foot. Combined with my suponation, when I walk quickly or run, the bone hits over and over and over...not comfortable! She splinted my foot with tape (which I have to wear for the next 3 weeks - Greg should be pretty good at spliting it before my next appointment) and then we will go from there. She also sent me to trade my brand new shoes in for a different pair which gives more support to the cuboid bone. She created a new insert for the shoe too. Hopefully in the next couple of months, we can get the bone in place for long enough that it will reattach. Here's hoping!!

If you have any interest in a much more detailed and probably correct description of the problem and treatement, check out this website:

The cold that is kicking my can...

Day 13 of this cold...yep, day 13. It has been kicking my can for almost 2 weeks now (and kicked my kid's cans for the 2 weeks before I got it). It's relentless! Greg is 2 days ahead of me and he keeps saying that it's getting a little bit better, but we have gone through enough Ibuprophin in the past 2 weeks to dull the aches and pains of a small army.

Hopefully in a few days I'll be cold free, but for now, I'll just keep the tissues close and the Sam's Club size bottle of Ibuprophin closer!

No, we didn't have any work done...we swear!

Greg's sister was in town last week and we went to dinner together. When we were checking out at the counter, they had all kinds of retro candy! We just couldn't resist getting a couple of pairs of lips. The kids wanted them, but the adults had to have all of their fun first!
